making nutrition simple
Do you ever have a craving for a favorite childhood recipe, but you are on a weight loss journey or trying to find ways to be healthy? Look no further than the delicious healthy french toast recipe I am about to share with you!
This is so easy to make, you could even have your kids help you. This healthy french toast also requires very little prep time, so no need to fret if your kids are telling you they are starving and want to eat, like, yesterday!
I have tried this with a couple of types of bread but have landed on the holy grail: Dave’s Killer Thin Slice bread. Hands down, the best. This bread is lower in calories, but high in flavor and palatability. I recommend this brand to many of my clients on a weight loss and healthy eating journey.
However, this healthy french toast recipe also works well with Ezekial 4:9 bread too (you may want to soak in egg a bit longer though). I recommend this one too, especially since there is no added sugar! Pro tip: this bread has no preservatives, so if you don’t eat bread often, pop it in the freezer.
I am a big proponent of adding toppings, its the fun part of it all! Pure maple syrup is definitely superior to its corn syrup sweetened syrup alternatives. If you are trying to hit a fruit goal for the day (as I advise many of my clients), then healthy berries are the way to go to make your healthy french toast even healthier!
The honey, whipped cream, and powdered sugar are definitely fun and should be used in moderation if you are sticking to any weight loss goals.
All in all, though, healthy french toast is super yummy, easy to make, and should be part of your regular breakfast routine, if you ask me!
